What is Hellenistic Astrology?
Hellenistic Astrology is the first astrological tradition where planets, signs, houses, and aspects are all employed in the interpretation of natal charts, thus serving as the foundation for all Western astrology. This tradition was active from the 1st century BCE until the 7th century CE and has been revived by contemporary astrologers in the last 30 years. It is called “Hellenistic” because it is primarily in the Greek language and emerged from a fusion of Greek, Egyptian, and Babylonian intellectual traditions, made possible by the creation of a common Greek-speaking world through the conquests of Alexander the Great. It is distinct from earlier astrological traditions, such as the Babylonian and Egyptian, as well as later ones, such as the Persian, Medieval, and modern psychological traditions.
Who am I?
Fundamental elements of the conceptual framework of astrology came from Greek philosophers like Plato, Aristotle, and Pythagoras. I am a student of Hellenistic astrology and a specialist in the most systematic commentator of Plato, named Proclus (412-485 CE), who also extensively engaged with astrology. Therefore, I study not only how to make astrological predictions but also why: what is the worldview and ethics that underpin Hellenistic astrology? How do they relate to current philosophical inquiries? How can this be translated into a comprehensible vocabulary today?
I am the author of several articles and a book on Proclus’ philosophy of time, “Time’s Causal Power: The Natural Theology of Time in Proclus” (Brill, Leiden, 2021), where I explained his arguments in favor of the causal power of time and that things happen because it is their time to happen. I have also taught courses on his philosophy of time and the philosophy of astrology in antiquity. Additionally, I hold a certificate of completion from Chris Brennan’s course on Hellenistic astrology.

This is a session of approximately 1.5 hours via video call where I introduce you to the principles of Greek astrology, interpret what your natal chart promises for your life, and use some basic prediction techniques. I identify the focus of your life, vocation, external circumstances, and areas of greater ease and difficulty. In the forecast, I determine the general narrative of your life and the prominent themes and planets for the upcoming year. The session can be recorded, and a download link will be sent after the consultation, along with a PowerPoint presentation of approximately 70 slides.
